MPAMOT is a black women‑owned and managed consulting engineering and development firm with more than 28 years of experience in the built environment.

Malani Padayachee & Associates (Pty) Ltd (MPA), together with its co‑investor Motseng Women Investments (Pty) Ltd (Motseng), acquired 100% of the equity in Mott MacDonald Africa (Pty) Ltd, the South African subsidiary of Mott MacDonald. As a first mover in recognising both the challenges and emerging opportunities within the industry, MPA took a bold step toward redefining industry norms, advancing transformation, and strengthening South Africa’s leadership in engineering and development.

More than 25 years ago, Malani Padayachee & Associates (Pty) Ltd, was established by Malani Padayachee-Saman, one of South Africa’s first professional female civil engineers. As 100% black woman-owned and led civil and structural consulting engineering firm, MPA gained recognition for their service excellence and commitment to gender mainstreaming and development. MPA is committed to providing professional services to clients and believes in providing sustainable and excellent engineering solutions to enhance the lives of all South Africans.

Motseng Women Investments (Motseng)

Motseng Women Investments (Pty) Ltd, is a newly founded women owned investment entity directly affiliated to Motseng Investment Holdings (MIH). Founded by Ipeleng Mkhari, the goal at Motseng Women Investments (Motseng) is to integrate Motseng’s women executives as owners and managers of the business. Motseng was established to leverage the 20 year plus history of Motseng Investment Holdings in principal investments. With the depth and knowledge base from MIH, Motseng will develop into a leading women-owned and managed organisation.

Mott MacDonald Africa

Mott MacDonald’s history in Africa stretches back more than 100 years, when co-founder Sir Murdoch MacDonald began what became the company’s long association with hydro-electric power development. Milestones in Mott MacDonald’s history in Africa include expansion of its presence in the power market with the 2010 acquisition Merz and McLellan. In 2013, Mott MacDonald acquired South African engineering consultancy PD Naidoo & Associates to create a multi-disciplinary business providing design, implementation, and management services in sectors ranging from property and infrastructure, transport and water, to industry, mining and communications.
